Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. is currently seeking a full-time Welder/Mechanic ((Engineering Technician III) in San Diego, CA.

Summary: Performs various welding processes to repair, modify and install various pipes, structures, foundations and fittings associated with aluminum hull small craft and its sub systems. Selects proper materials and requirements to perform welding functions. Fabricates and installs fixtures and jigs required for welding process alignments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides welding support certified in Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG) and Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG).
  • Qualifies as a Welder in accordance with Epsilon Systems Instructions.
  • Ensures that all Epsilon Systems Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) are worn and that all damaged PPE is discarded.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints to plan setup and operation of the machine shop equipment prior to commencing the operation.
  • Uses inside machinery to include iron worker, and metal break.
  • Uses all common power and hand tools necessary to accomplish satisfactory welding operations.
  • Maintains good housekeeping practices; turning off machines when not in use, disposing of waste properly, sweeping the area, etc.
  • Ensures that all Q/A requirements of NAVSEA 009-12 and NSTM TO300-AU-SPN-010 are met.
  • Follows detailed repair procedures and instructions (e.g.; QA packages steps, RECs, CWPs, FWPs, TGIs etc.) required completing the production operations.
  • Reads and understands advanced welding terminology, blueprints, drawings and schematics to plan installation, modification or repair prior to commencing the process.
  • Selects welding filler materials, joint design, proper heat ranges and most effective or required welding process/procedure to ensure quality welding operations IAW TWD.
  • Performs all tasks required as a Welder.
  • Produces quality welds, including pipe, in difficult or adverse conditions and is proficient in multiple welding procedures.
  • Performs work outside of trade as necessary.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 5 years’ experience as a welder
  • Qualifies as a Welder/Workmanship in accordance with Epsilon Systems Work Instructions and welding procedures
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S Navy Secret clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain aluminum welding qualifications for both TIG and MIG welding types
  • Ability to understand and perform the basic set up, adjustment, and operation of various welding equipment and hand tools used in the trade
  • Ability to communicate effectively, work independently or in a group
  • Ability to do basic math, i.e. add, subtract, divide and multiply
  • Ability to perform common mechanical and machinist operations as instructed by the lead technician
  • Ability to use common power and hand tools to accomplish mechanical operations as assigned by lead technician
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English
  • Ability to perform fabrication of parts IAW NAVSEA approved drawings
  • Ability to obtain and maintain National Security Clearance Level SECRET
  • Travel required 25% CONUS and OCONU
  • Qualifies as a Welder/Workmanship in accordance with Epsilon Systems Work Instructions and welding procedures

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification
  • Possess current security clearance SECRET
